Tip 5 - Take Control of the Temperature of your
house and water heater
By Cara, Nathan, Catherine,
Set your
thermostat in winter to 20 degrees C or less during the daytime, and 15 degrees
C before going to sleep or when you're away for the day. During the summer, set
thermostats to 25 degrees C or more.
Set the
thermostat on your water heater around 50 degrees C. Lower temperatures can
save more energy, but you might run out of hot water or end up using extra
electricity to boost the hot water temperature in your dishwasher.
Another
option is to buy a programmable thermostat and an on demand hot water heater.
Cara, Nathan, and Catherine, this is a great tip and a good reminder for me. I already have an on demand hot water heater so I'm doing pretty good in that department. However, when I get home, I'm going to program my thermostat.
ReplyDeletethis is a really good tip
ReplyDeleteWe have a programmable thermostat in our house. We have it set to turn down during the day when we are at work and at school. We also have it set to turn down at night when we go to sleep. If I make Kaden's bedtime earlier, we could turn the thermostat down earlier. Do you think this is a viable option?
ReplyDeleteI think that is a great idea Sandra. Kaden should be in bed by 7pm on school nights! :) lol
ReplyDeleteWow, great tip, In our house in the winter our house is FREEZING cold. but, in the summer our house is ROASTING hot so, hot we kick our sheets off! I've realized that until now which is quit impressive what we all can do to save God's earth.
ReplyDelete- Catherine~~
I think Kaden SHOULD go to bed at 7, maybe 6 even?
